It does a really good job at keeping the fuzzy noise out of the quiet parts when you're not running anything through the pedals.
I use my NS-2 as a powersupply and noise suppressor between my distortion pedals and modulation effects pedals.Submitted by Harm from Mechanicsville, VA (86 points) on Jul 25, 2002.Good Points: decay, extra "mute" mode, familiar awesome Boss construction and reliability, works in loop, nice graphics and paint job.So, I place the eq after the output jack (not in loop) and it sounds fine! Otherwise, the NS-2 doesn't affect my tone at all. I've noticed an odd anomaly with my eq: with eq in return/send loop, suppressor engages and highs are totally sapped. AND! It powers several other devices, making this box a great swiss-army-knife. The extra "mute" mode is a useful brick wall-type gate for punching the entire signal in/out, not just noise which falls below the threshold point. Unlike other noise suppressors whose only control is for threshold, this one also has decay, which is cool for variations or a "gray area" between the all on or off states. Punch some hum or piercing shards in/out at a stab of the pedal. You may think, "why on earth would any noisician want a noise suppressor? That's counter-productive!" This may be so in general, but I like playing with dynamics, not just "full-on" onslaught all the time.from Wakefield, MA (204 points) on Dec 18, 2003 Purchased At: university music, gainesville fl.Bad Points: accidentally killing all of your sound can be unpleasant.Submitted by jkndrkn from Gainesville, FL (34 points) on Dec 19, 2004ĭon't use the power supply feature, but i can see how this would be useful. It helps add dynamics and punch to whatever is plugged into it.
All I can really do is back up the statements of the previous reviews. Submitted by kinetic turtle from Oakland, CA (166 points) on May 22, 2005.Bad Points: Not exactly what most noisicians are looking for. Will also get rid of any undesirable buzzes and hums with one fell stomp. Easy feedback loops are created with the NS-2 (just use the send and return and you're good to go.) Mute function is useful. Why in the world would you want to SUPRESS your noise? I didn't purachse this for the intention of making noise, but it can be useful in effects chains.Submitted by Belial from Chicago, IL (102 points) on Oct 31, 2006.Bad Points: Hard to find a good use, but worth it.The mute switch works great if you want to trigger sudden bursts of sound. There is a slight learning curve to it, but use it right and you'll get something very threshing and staticish. Throw a pedal or two into the send-return and then plug use the input-output inside of a rupture loop with something harsh behind it. Despite being a noise "suppressor" this thing is pretty handy when it comes to noise.Submitted by Ferox from Los Altos, CA (432 points) on May 26, 2007.Bad Points: Crappy gate, only briefly works. This is an excellent killswitch but the gate isn't that good.Submitted by AULOS from Hereford Uk (484 points) on Dec 9, 2009.
